Rewatch: The Path to Impact: Insights from Global Majority Newsrooms

With GIJC 2025 around the corner—where Joseph Stiglitz and Maria Ressa will be keynote speakers—we’re celebrating by rewinding to our February Columbia SIPA panel with them, the session where we launched The Path to Impact: Insights from Global Majority Newsrooms.

The Path to Impact is an impact report on how local journalism across Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America creates measurable, global public-interest outcomes—on democracy, climate accountability, health, and civic trust. The report is authored by Preethi Nallu, with research led by Dr. Anya Schiffrin, and presented by Report for the World

This session is the prelude to the GIJC keynotes: Stiglitz sets the macroeconomics of information as a public good; Ressa brings the playbook for defending truth in the trenches; Nallu and Schiffrin supply the data to operationalize both. Together, they map a path from admiration to action: fund smart, build safe, collaborate across borders, and measure impact.

So press play, take notes, and bring these questions to GIJC 2025!
